Internships at the Adam Smith Institute
Applications for the 2026 Adam Smith Institute Internships are OPEN.
Applications close at 23:59 BST on Sunday, 1st March 2026.
The Adam Smith Institute offers short, two-week unpaid internships to university students and recent graduates who are interested in politics, economics and policy work. These are an excellent opportunity to learn more about the policy making process and the wider free-market movement in the UK. It is important that applicants strongly align with classical liberal, free-market politics and economics. They should also be interested in and curious about the areas we work and research in. However, it is not important that prospective interns are committed to all the specific policy recommendations that the ASI has made.
Our internships are an excellent first step into the world of policy and politics, as well as law, business, and finance, with many former interns have gone on to work in these areas, or for the ASI itself. They also provide very good experience for a range of non-policy-based careers.
Internships run between June and September. Interns will be allotted a 2-week slot during this period according to their availability.
Eligibility: students over the age of 18 studying towards an undergraduate degree. Students graduating in the summer of 2026 are eligible to apply. Students beginning their university studies in 2026 are also eligible.
To submit your application, please click the button below and fill out the proceeding form.
Please note that our internship programme is highly competitive and, as such, we are unable to provide feedback for unsuccessful applicants.
The sooner you apply the better. Our policy is to accept strong candidates we like as they emerge, and spaces are extremely limited, so all spots may be gone before the deadline.
Roles
Interns will engage in both research and operations capacities, working on research papers and blogging whenever they are not working on ASI research or operations. Interns are expected to carry out office administration duties as instructed.
Work Experience
Dependent on space and the time of year, the Adam Smith Institute can occasionally offer work experience to those yet to attend university. To apply, please follow the requirements above, signalling that it is work experience you seek.
We cannot guarantee a work experience placement.
