Should the £100 contactless limit be scrapped?

There is no doubt that contactless payments have made shopping easier. They have also provided a much needed boost to high street shops, which are having to compete with online giants for whom rent and card payment limits are not a concern.

Research by Barclays found that in 2023 about 93 per cent of in-store transactions up to £100 were contactless, with the average shopper spending £3,623 using this method.
